the disparities

कृतिका उप्रेती

This is a data-driven digital multimedia storybook that observes the intersectionality between gender and climate change by exploring how women in Nepal are disproportionately more vulnerable to the sufferings caused by climate change due to strict gender roles, cultural norms, and inequitable opportunities.

about this project

I love learning about global issues about gender and the environment. I have recently been curious about how women and climate change in the Global South are deeply intertwined. For this project in particular, I decided to focus on my home country - Nepal - because of my lived experiences as a Nepalese woman. I built this project as a way to display my research exploration in narrative form.

my research questions

1

how does a woman's experience in Nepal vary depending on what specific region she is from?

2

why has gender inequality in nepal led women to become more vulnerable to the extreme weather events and effects caused by climate change?
